Your writing is a gift that keeps giving!

And yes, people need to learn to recognise and appreciate all the other glorious forms in which beautiful love exist in their lives. Also, it's a perfectly normal thing to crave romantic love and daydream about how and when it would happen, maybe even dedicate a few hours or a day to feeling 'blue' for its absence in your life. It only means you're human and that craving is perfectly healthy. But it becomes a problem when you think something is wrong with your life just because of its absence and let that drive you to desperation.

All that said, I love the mini 'how I met your mother' log line that you concluded with. It's cute, it's perfect. Maybe it'll not even happen in either of those places, but I hope it happens for you. May we, love-loving-incurably-romantic-at-heart girlies, find love better than we have ever dreamed of.

P. S. 60k speed dating event? People really pay for things like that? 🤣

You're the sweetest, Sapph! And yes, I agree with all the above. May we find love that floods our lives with light. And yes, o - apparently!

The write up felt like a warm hug 🤧

I also felt extremely validated and glad that I’m not the only one who thinks this way about the concept of love and relationships.

Superb writing btw

Loved the balance in this. I love life; all of it. And I am so determined to squeeze out all the juice it has to offer. 😂 In my friendships, my family, my media; it’s just me busy squeezing away. Life is so beautiful, and I hope we all learn to enjoy it more. Happy Valentine’s Day in advance, Treasure! 🤍

This was truly so lovely and timely. It’s a balance, creating a life I love is not a fig that I choose AGAINST living a creative life with a lover. Timing and enjoying the now>>>> 💜

Loved reading this piece... especially the part about trading stories with single friends being akin to old people in nursing homes. 😂

It's refreshing to see something that doesn't fuel a subtle pressure to be other than, to be coupled up , especially this season.

I'm spending Valentine's speaking with a group of teenagers about love— and looking forward to it.

I always love reading your newsletters, but I love this one even more, it resonates with me so loudly. I try my best to romanticise my own life and relationships with my friends and family, because if I don't, who will?

In the words of Whitney Houston, learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all, and I am glad to be able to be.

Thank you for writing ❤️

I love love; romantic, platonic, everything. At my core, I am a lover girl to a fault (maybe).

I like that you included the part that talks about the seeming shame of wanting to be in a romantic relationship. I detest when people make conversations like that seem like an “either or” conversation. “You have friends, what do you need a boyfriend for?” Ma’am, don’t make me answer that question.

I will be spending my valentines day in front of my laptop like every other day. I will tell a few friends how much I love them and the desire to spend the day the way I have it crafted out in my head will linger beside every other passing thought for the rest of the day.

Glad Valentines day for you will not be spent solely in front of a laptop. Also glad that you resonated with the "either or" thing. It can be really annoying.

This piece reminds me of a song:

I found out

It's not the love that's in your mind

It's the love that you might find

That's gonna save our lives🎵🎶

This was the best piece of writing I have read this week! I love how you expand the definition of love. So many people talk about "finding the one", as if it were a tresaure hunt with a definite goal. But when time is limited and we never know how long we have here, the way is the goal. I have been thinking about this a lot lately and your article encapsulated it perfectly!

"Wouldn’t that be nice?"

It definitely would be.

It's something that I'm starting to understand, and also gradually cultivating, that there are so many ways I can experience love, not just in a romantic partner, and so I have started cherishing the people in my life even more.

Being single is not a crime, neither does it mean that something is wrong with you, and I sincerely hope more single women and men realize this and start spending their single days loving themselves and those in their lives rather than being frustrated and sad about their single status.

Thank you so much for this beautiful post, dearie. Loved it from the very beginning to the ending.

60k speed dating event 😂😂😂. Damn maybe because I am in my busy phase and everything is moving so fast, so I haven't felt the being single blues yet.

P.S. Anyone know where those speed dating events occur, I want to carry out an investigation 👉🏽👈🏽

The writing, the framing, and the messaging of this piece are some of the most stunning I've read in a while, since coming out of my reading slump. Your heart is in the right place.

Love is beautiful, romantic love more so, but sometimes we forget that love exists in a myriad other forms, besides romance.

Also loved to see that you were reading my favourite book of all time - "The Book Thief". A truly polarising novel.
