I like that you included the part that talks about the seeming shame of wanting to be in a romantic relationship. I detest when people make conversations like that seem like an “either or” conversation. “You have friends, what do you need a boyfriend for?” Ma’am, don’t make me answer that question.
I will be spending my valentines day in front of my laptop like every other day. I will tell a few friends how much I love them and the desire to spend the day the way I have it crafted out in my head will linger beside every other passing thought for the rest of the day.

So many people talk about "finding the one", as if it were a tresaure hunt with a definite goal. But when time is limited and we never know how long we have here, the way is the goal. I have been thinking about this a lot lately and your article encapsulated it perfectly!
It's something that I'm starting to understand, and also gradually cultivating, that there are so many ways I can experience love, not just in a romantic partner, and so I have started cherishing the people in my life even more.
Being single is not a crime, neither does it mean that something is wrong with you, and I sincerely hope more single women and men realize this and start spending their single days loving themselves and those in their lives rather than being frustrated and sad about their single status.
